




Admission to Nursery Class
Children enter the Nursery class of the Foundation Stage in the September after their third birthday. Parents who wish their child to be admitted should ensure that they make the necessary application to the Admissions section of the Local Education Authority, Minerva House, Pendlebury Road, Swinton, M27 4EQ by the closing date (usually mid January of the year that the child is due to start in the September). You will be advised of the allocated Nursery places by the Local Education Authority after consultation between the Authority and the Governing Body of St Boniface RC Primary School. Once your child has been allocated a Nursery place details will be sent to you about the parents information night held in school.
Prior to admission into the Nursery class for children who are attending other Nurseries, pupils visit the Nursery class to familiarise themselves with the school and meet the headteacher and staff. Children will have a couple of visits to the Nursery in the term prior to admission. Admission will then be staggered to help the children settle successfully in their new environment.
In the event of over-subscription to the Nursery the admission criteria will be strictly applied and proof of address may be required.
A place in the Nursery class DOES NOT guarantee a place in the Reception class.

Admission to Reception Class
Children entering the Reception class of the Foundation Stage, enter in the academic year they become five. Because this is the beginning of statutory school age, parents who wish their child to be admitted should ensure that they make the necessary application to the Admissions section of the Local Education Authority at Minerva House, Pendlebury Road, Swinton M27 4EQ by the closing date (usually mid January of the year that the child is due to start in the September). The Government have introduced class size restrictions in the Reception class and if oversubscribed the Admissions Policy will be strictly adhered to.
Parents who wish to appeal about decisions made should contact the Headteacher who will outline the details of the appeals procedure for the Reception class.
Once your child has been allocated a Reception class details will be sent to you about the parents’ information night held in school.
